Panther soccer teams swept by Burlington
Slow start haunts girls, boys fall by 4

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant soccer teams were done in by Burlington on Monday, as both teams played the Grayhounds in Southeast Conference play.
At home, the Mt. Pleasant girls were doomed by a tough first half, falling 7-2. The boys lost 4-0 on the road.
The Panther girls came into the match unbeaten in conference play, but so did Burlington, and the Grayhounds came out red-hot.
Burlington scored five goals in the first half to take a commanding 5-1 lead into the break, and cruised to a five-goal victory to hand the Panthers their first league loss.
Aurora Hummell and Tori Wilson each had goals for the Mt. Pleasant girls. Charice Auwerda dished out two assists.
The Mt. Pleasant boys gave up two goals in both the first and second halves en route to a 4-0 loss.
Dylan White had five shots in the loss, four of which went on goal. Ben Carthey, Isaiah ending and Kohen Cass each had one shot on net.
The Mt. Pleasant girls are now 3-2 overall and 3-1 in SEC play. The Panthers host Fort Madison (5-1, 3-1) on Thursday.
The Panther boys are 1-4 overall and 1-2 in league play. Mt. Pleasant will travel to play the first place Bloodhounds (5-2, 2-0) on Thursday.
