BURLINGTON — Mt. Pleasant boys soccer had beaten Keokuk twice this season.
On Monday, the two Southeast Conference rivals met for a third time. This go around held a little bit more weight as it marked the beginning of the Class 2A Region 5 playoffs.
Maybe third times the charm, because it was the Chiefs that got the better of the Panthers in round three, 4-3.
Through the opening half it was the Panthers that held the advantage. Dylan White scored two of what would be a hatrick night for him.
By the end of first half the Panthers held onto a 2-1 lead. Keokuk would have the last laugh.
White put one more in the back of the net in the second, but Keokuk scored three of its own to win it.
Kolbein Ostby and Jonah Zimmer both had assists for the Panthers. Xachary LeBlance had three saves.
In the loss, the Panthers out shot the Chiefs 22-11.
Mt. Pleasant ends it season 3-11.
