Panther tennis splits with Grayhounds
Mt. Pleasant boys stay unbeaten, girls still looking for first victory

For Mt. Pleasant, Monday was an up and down day on the tennis court.
Both the Panther boys and girls matched up with Burlington.
For the boys, it was a win over the Grayhounds 7-2, which keeps them at an unblemished 11-0.
On the contrary, the Panther girls were swept by Burlington 9-0, moving them to 0-11.
Owen Vansickel picked up a 8-3 victory for Mt. Pleasant over Hunter Ford in the No. 1 match.
Jake Ensminger came up just short to Carson Ziegler in the No. 2 match. That was the Panthers lone singles loss on the day.
The Panther’s Elliot Cook defeated Shaye Stringer 8-4.
Phoenix Watson got the better of Jacob Widmer 8-0.
In the No. 5 match, Tim Cam battled to a 9-8 (7-3) victory over Thomas Fell.
Gavin Ross rounded out the Panther’s singles victories with an 8-1 win over William Woodard.
In doubles, the Panther’s second loss of the day came from Vansickel and Ensminger as they were upended by Ford and Ziegler 8-6.
The duo of Cook and Watson downed Stringer and Widmer 8-5 in the No. 2 match.
Cam and Lou Schimmelpfennig were winners over Fell and Woodard 8-4.
On the girls’ side of things, Bethany Drury was defeated by Emily Mosley 8-1.
Mary Kate Peterson was topped by Macy McGinity 8-0.
Saylor Smith fell 8-2 to Annalise Buxton in the No. 3 match.
In the No. 4 bout, Eva Rounceville was defeated 8-0 by Hannah Wegmann.
Audrey Richmond was downed 8-2 by Maddy Taeger in the No. 5 match.
Halaina Crane came up short to Lorelei Weaver 8-3 in the final singles match.
In doubles, Peterson and Smith were swept by Mosley and McGinity 8-0.
Drury and Richmond were bested in the No. 2 match 8-3 by Buxton and Wegmann.
The No. 3 doubles bout ended with Rounceville and Crane falling to Taeger and Mallory Krow 8-2.
