Panther tennis teams split
MP boys win in Burlington, girls fall at home

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant tennis teams went 1-1 against Burlington on Thursday. The Panther boys grinded out a 5-4 win over the Grayhounds on the road, while the Panther girls fell at home, 8-1.
The Mt. Pleasant boys won three singles matches. Max Heater took the No. 2 match in three sets, while Dane Cook and Elijah Rynders both swept at No. 3 and No. 5.
Sawyer Fulton fell in three sets in the No. 1 singles match. Lou Schimmelpfennig was swept at No. 4, and Beckham Prough was swept at No. 6.
Mt. Pleasant was able to battle out two victories in doubles. Fulton and Schimmelpfennig pulled out the No. 1 doubles match 8-4, while Prough and Heather won the No. 3 match, 9-7. Cook and Rynders fell in the No. 2 match, 8-1.
In Mt. Pleasant, the lone win for the Panther girls came from Halaina Crane, who won her No. 3 singles match, 9-7.
Bethany Drury fell 9-7 in the No. 1 match. Audrey Richmond dropped her matchup 8-0. Zoey Carlsen fell 9-7. Lila Cook dropped her match 8-3, and Hannah Villaplaza dropped her contest 8-6.
In doubles, the Panther No. 1 team of Drury and Richmond were swept, 8-0, as were the No. 2 squad of Crane and Carlsen. Cook and Villaplaza fell 8-5 in the No. 3 match.
