Panther tennis tumbles in Burlington
Mt. Pleasant swept in Southeast Conference battle

BURLINGTON — The Mt. Pleasant girls tennis team took a tough one in Burlington on Thursday, visiting their Southeast Conference foes to the east for the first time this season.
The Panthers were defeated 9-0 by the Grayhounds, dropping their second SEC game this season.
Lila Cook fell to Burlington’s Ava Moffett, 6-0 and 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. Mia Gray had to forfeit her No. 2 singles match before the second set. She lost the first set, 6-0.
Katana Phangchanthong fell 6-0 and 6-0 in the No. 3 singles match against Ava Fawcett. Bella Dodds was defeated 6-1 and 6-1 in the No. 4 singles match against Ruby Orr.
Lianah Phangthanthong put up the best fight in singles, falling 6-1 and 6-2 to Sophia Pettit. Shaye Barbee made her varsity debut for the Panthers at No. 6, falling 6-0 and 6-1 to Mylee Stiefel.
In doubles, Cook and Dodds were defeated 6-1 and 6-2 by the No. 2 doubles team. Phangchanthong and Phangchanthong were defeated 6-2 and 6-2 in the No. 2 doubles match, and Barbee and Kristal Olivas fell 6-0 and 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles match.
With the loss, Mt. Pleasant fell to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the SEC.
