BURLINGTON — The Mt. Pleasant volleyball team went into Burlington on Tuesday night hunting for an upset win over the first place Grayhounds, but instead it was Burlington that stayed hot.
Burlington won every set, sweeping Mt. Pleasant 25-17, 25-14 and 25-16.
Mt. Pleasant kept Set 1 close, getting within two points, at 19-17 before the Grayhounds went on a 6-0 run to end it. After a tough second set, Mt. Pleasant led early in the third, but the Grayhounds responded.
Burlington has now run the gamut of Union area SEC teams. After beating Fairfield in five sets to open conference play, the Grayhounds have swept both Washington and Mt. Pleasant to move to 3-0 in the conference. Burlington is also the only SEC team with a winning record, sitting at 13-8.
Mt. Pleasant is now 4-10 overall and 1-2 in the SEC. The Panthers are one of four teams currently tied at 1-2 in conference play.
