Being aggressive at the plate did come at a cost: Mid-Prairie pitchers recorded 10 strikeouts in the game.
But it wasn?t enough to stop the Mt. Pleasant offense.
Along with their hitting, the Panthers also took advantage of 10 walks and three Mid-Prairie fielding errors, and they stole four bases.
Meanwhile, Dustin Amos started the game on the hill for the Panthers. He went six innings and faced 25 batters. He allowed seven hits for five runs (four earned). He struck out seven and walked none.
Dilks came on in relief, pitching the seventh inning. The first batter he faced reached first on an error, but was caught going to second. Dilks struck out the final two batters to end the inning and seal the Panthers? first win of the season. They are now 1-3 overall.
The Mt. Pleasant team was scheduled to play in Wapello tonight, but the game has been rained out and has not yet been rescheduled.
The Panthers will be at Muscatine on Saturday for a matchup that begins at 1 p.m.
