PACKWOOD - Pekin High School outscored the visitors from BGM 14-7 in the second half Friday but lost the football game, 27-14.
'We got ourselves in a 20-0 hole and couldn't get out of it,” Pekin coach Bud Blakely said. 'I was proud of how the kids played the second half. We made a few adjustments and played much better. We just can't put ourselves in those kind of situations. Micheal Jones was a nice spark plug for us on offense.”
Jones had 13 carries for 94 yards and scored both touchdowns, scampering 40 yards on one score and six on the other. Teammate Dayne Eckley ran 13 times for 50 yards.
Keenan Winn led the Pekin defense with an interception and 10 tackles.
Pekin falls to 2-5, 1-2 and hosts Belle Plaine Friday.
