Keokuk pulls away from Panthers following tight knit first quarter

KEOKUK — Mt. Pleasant suffered a Southeast Conference loss on Friday night from the hands of Keokuk, 75-48.
The Panthers played the Chiefs close through the first quarter, but Keokuk only extended its lead the rest of the way.
Both teams scored 12 a piece through the first period, but it was all Keokuk in the second quarter.
The Chiefs’ 25 points in the second eight minute frame were the most of the night. Mt. Pleasant scored a nightly low of 10.
Heading into halftime the Chiefs led 37-22 and the Panthers could never get back into it.
Keokuk poured in 38 points through the second half, while Mt. Pleasant was held to 26.
Aiden Humble had a hot shooting night for Mt. Pleasant, finishing with 27 points, along with seven made threes. Ryan Helling added nine points and Grayson Walker scored six.
Mt. Pleasant will be back in action on Monday against Ottumwa.
