Panthers crush Keossippi Relays

KEOKUK - Mt. Pleasant track and field flexed its muscle in Keokuk on Tuesday night. The Panthers dominated the Keossippi Relays, sweeping the event with the girls scoring 200 points and the boys scoring 180.
The girls won five events on the day, including a dominant day in the throwing events. Lexie Magnani and Jadan Brumbaugh went one-two in the shot put, throwing 40-08 and 35-11 respectively. Alyssa Striegel took the discus throw with a 104-09, and Grace Kelley took second in 103-03.
The Panther girls won three relays. The sprint medley team took first in 1:55.57. The 4X800 team won in 11:10.42, and the shuttle hurdle team took first in 1:11.76.
The Panther boys had a fantastic day, winning 11 events, including three field events. Sam Beatty won the high jump with a leap of 6-04. Rylan Seberg took the long jump in 22-00, and Zach Beason won the discus throw with a 157-09.50.
The Mt. Pleasant boys went one-two in three track events. Rylan Seberg and Khang Truong went one-two in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 11.12 seconds and 11.18 seconds respectively. Chase Lamm and Jack Johnson took top two in the 110-meter high hurdles, running in 14.79 seconds and 17.28 seconds respectively. Brody Bender won the 800-meter run in 2:07.48, and Cody Mertens took second in that event, crossing in 2:10.05.
Four Mt. Pleasant relays finished first. The shuttle hurdle team won in 1:03.38. The distance medley team won in 3:51.48. The 4X100 team took first in 44.30 seconds, and the 4X400 team took first in 3:32.01.
Truong picked up another win for Mt. Pleasant in the 200-meter dash. He finished the race in 22.68 seconds. Both the Panther boys and girls will be in Pella on Thursday, April 25, although a handful of Mt. Pleasant players will be in Des Moines instead, for the Drake Relays.
