Panthers, Demons finish one and two at Falcon Relays
Mt. Pleasant, Washington, New London, Winfield-Mt. Union, and Highland each get top three finishes

WEST BURLINGTON — West Burlington High School hosted a plethora of boys track teams in the Falcon Relays Monday night, marking the second outdoor boys track meet of the year.
On the chilly evening, five Union coverage area teams made the trek to West Burlington to partake in the meet and they did not disappoint.
Mt. Pleasant and Washington were both featured in Class A. Down the stretch it would be a Panther and Demon battle for first overall in the class. Washington picked up a total of six wins, while the Panther grabbed five victories.
Washington’s Elijah Morris continues to run well in the early season. The junior was a double-winner. Morris blew out the field in both the 100-meter and 400-meter dash, Morris ran a scorching 11.19 in the 100-meter and 50.75 in the 400-meter.
The Demon’s Brayden Hartman was also double-winner, picking up victories in the shot put and discus. Hartman threw 137-06 in discus and 48-07.50 in shot.
Lance Sobaski picked up another victory in the 3200-meter run, pulling away from the field with a 9:53:85.
Washington also secured another victory in the distance medley with Lucas Kroll, Lincoln Hanson, Alec Ulin and Micah Rees. The group ran a 4:00:79 for the victory.
For Mt. Pleasant, Will Davidson was a two-time winner. Davidson won the long jump with a leap of 21-10.00 before going on to top the field in the 110 meter hurdles with a 15.50, besting teammate Bryce Wilson by one hundredth of a second.
Davidson and Wilson also helped the Panthers get a first place finish in the 4x110 meter shuttle hurdle. Morgan Van Nyhuis and Avin Truong were the other two hurdlers. The group finished with a 1:06.60.
The Panthers relay teams came to compete, with wins coming in the 4x400 meter relay and 4x800 meter relay.
Dylon Hagans, Nate Stroud, Gabe Feldmann and Jacob Richtman won the 4x400 with a time of 3:52.62. Richtman, Isaac Rynders, Nathan McWilliams and Feldmann grabbed the win in the 4x800 with a time of 9:08.35.
New London had a good performance, especially in the field events. Carter Allen was a double-winner, finishing first in both shot put and discus. Allen threw a 147-06 in discus and 50-11.50 in shot, both were the best on the day. Kade Benjamin won high-jump with a leap of 6-06 and Joel Lacy topped long jump with a jump of 19-06.50.
Seth Bailey grabbed a victory for the Tigers in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:32.08.
The Tigers also got wins in the 800 sprint medley and the distance medley. Boden Pickle, Joel Lacy, Reean Seberg and Rylan Martin won the sprint medley with a time of 1:41.15. Seberg, Jordan Sharp, Tiane Cam and Julian Alexander finish first in the distance medley with a time of 4:00.47.
Winfield-Mt. Union had one winner. Gabriel Hemsworth won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.29.
Highland did not have any winners, but finished second on two separate occasions. Tyler Thompson, Jacob Hill, Logan Bonebrake and Connor Grinstead finished second in the sprint-medley. Devin Lovetinsky finished second in discus with a throw of 115-08.
