Panthers, Demons head Williamsburg girls Invitational
Mt. Pleasant, Washington, Mid-Prairie and WACO all compete in 31 team tournament

WILLIAMSBURG — For Mt. Pleasant, Washington, Mid-Prairie and WACO girls wrestling, Monday night brought one of the biggest tournaments of the season, that being the Williamsburg Girls Invitational.
It was a pretty successful event for the Union area quad as each brought back a plethora of top two finishers and even some first-place winners.
Mt. Pleasant was led by Jayden Housh on the day. Housh was the top finisher at 135 C.
Housh pinned all her opponents in the competition winning by fall in 5:18, 2:13 and 1:02 over Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Annalilia Vega for the title.
Zenlynn Lee and Ella McNamee each finished third in the meet at 235 A and 110 A.
Lee won her first match by fall before coming up short in the semifinals, but bounced back to win the third-place match by fall in 1:45 over Aliya Phillies of Cedar Rapids Prairie.
McNamee won her first match by fall in 5:43, lost the second by major decision, 12-0 and took the third-place bout by major decision herself 11-1 over Madi Lundvall of Wapello.
Also wrestling for Mt. Pleasant were Natalie Parrott who took fourth at 120 C and Alexis Wagner who finished sixth at 115 A.
For Washington, Jillian Langstraat and Teegan Sulentich were the top finishers. They both took second at 110 C and 155 A.
Langstraat won both of her first two matches, both by fall in 49 second and 1:30.
Her first and only loss of the competition came in the championship match in which she fell to Addison Klenk of South Tama County by fall in 5:30.
Sulentich much like Langstraat won her first two matches by fall in 1:52 and 3:52.
Sulentich’s only loss came in the first-place against Emma Peach of Iowa Valley who won by fall in 3:13.
Rounding out Washington on the day was Jenna Bose who took fourth at 145 C and both Zoe Lewis and Peggy Miller who finished seventh at 140 B and 145 B.
Mid-Prairie’s top finisher in the competition was Marissa Cline who took the top spot at 140 C.
Cline opened her day with a first-round bye and then back-to-back matches for the title. She won her semifinal match by fall in 2:29 and then defeated Morgan Pence of Cedar Rapids Prairie by fall in 3:40.
The Golden Hawks also had two second-place finishers in Grace Conway at 140 B and Ashlee Farrier at 130 A.
Conway had a first-round bye and then won her semifinal match in 21 seconds by pin. In the first-place match, Conway was edged by one point, by 5-4 decision against Olivia Bonnema of Solon.
As for Farrier, he won two straight to start her day. She won by fall in both matches, 1:20 and 5:00. In the 130 A final she was pinned by Riann Holt of Williamsburg, notching her second.
The Golden Hawks had six other wrestlers place as well.
Mardie Berry (145 B), Gabi Robertson (105) and Sam Stacey (235 B) all finished third. Kenda Shqair (120 B) and Ellie Brenneman (140 A) both took fourth. Ellie Callahan (170 A) finished fifth.
As for WACO, Bralyyn Wagler was the Warriors lone first-place finisher.
After a first-round bye, Wagler won every match by fall at 235 A.
She won in 2:29 in the semifinals and then defeated Emma Cook of Colfax-Mingo in the finals after 4:16.
Following Wagler, the Warriors had four fourth-place finishes.
Destiny Boone (170 B), Grace Fort (190 A), Rylee Rice (115 A) and Heaven Steege (120 A) all finished fourth in their class.
Elyssa Graber took sixth at 105.
