FORT MADISON — Mt. Pleasant football held on for as long as it could last night against undefeated district foe Fort Madison.
After limiting Fort Madison (5-0) in the first half, the Bloodhounds poured it on in the second and propelling to a 46-0 victory.
For Mt. Pleasant, it was a tough start, but the Panther defense showed promise.
Two points is all Mt. Pleasant would give up to the Bloodhounds in the first quarter, as they were hit with a safety.
In the second quarter, Mt. Pleasant did well once again defensively. The Panthers held the Bloodhounds to just 10 points, but they couldn’t get the offense rolling.
At the half, Mt. Pleasant was still right there as the Bloodhounds headed into the locker room with just a 12-0 lead.
Fort Madison started to click in the third and the offensive woes continued for Mt. Pleasant in the second half.
The Bloodhounds poured in 22 points in the third quarter to build up a 34-0 lead heading into the fourth.
It didn’t stop there though, as Fort Madison added 12 more in the fourth to solidify the district win.
Mt. Pleasant drops to 0-5 with the loss. The Panthers will host Iowa City Liberty (4-1) in their next competition.
