Panthers fall at Eddyville

EDDYVILLE - The Mt. Pleasant baseball team couldn't pick up a road win at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont on Friday night. The Panthers fell 7-3 in nonconference action.
Mt. Pleasant scored the first run when Nik Coble came around to score on a passed ball after hitting a one-out single. Mt. Pleasant held that lead until the bottom of the fourth.
EBF scored two runs in the fourth inning. They added four in the fifth and put up one in the sixth to lead 7-1.
The Panthers had the top of their order due up in the bottom of the seventh. Coble walked with one out. Clayton Lowery knocked him in with an RBI double, and after Jaxon Hoyle single, Chase Lamm knocked one more in with a groundout. That was all the Panthers would muster, however, and MPCHS had to settle for a four-run loss.
Lowery went 1-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored to lead the team. Coble finished the day 2-3 with two runs scored, and Hoyle went 2-4.
Trace White took the loss on the mound. He gave up six earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out one batter over four innings. He struck out one batter. Corbin Broeker threw two innings and giving up one earned run on three hits and no walks, while striking out one.
Mt. Pleasant is now 18-8 on the year. They'll have three home games this week, hosting Burlingotn on Tuesday, July 9, for a single game, and Knoxville on Thursday, July 11, in a doubleheader.
