Panthers, Hawks run at Pella

PELLA - Both Mt. Pleasant and Mid-Prairie took part in the Pella Dutch cross-country invite this weekend. Mid-Priarie picked up two wins in the small school standings and Mt. Pleasant finished sixth in the large school girls race and eighth in the large school boys race.
The Golden Hawk girls dominated the small school field, scoring 29 points, which was 26 better than second-place Panorama.
Danielle Hostetler absolutely dominated the girls race, crossing the tape in 18:16. Sydney Yoder finished second, in 20:24.9, and Jaden Yoder took third, in 20:27.5. Other Mid-Prairie finishers were Abby Fleming (10th, 2:15.5), Amara Jones (13th, 23:00.6), Grace Conawy (18th, 24:00.4) and Annika Poll (22nd, 24:38).
The Mid-Prairie boys cruised as well, scoring 26 to win by 18 over Des Moines Christian.
The Hawks placed three in the top five. Thaddeus Shetler was second, in 17:10.1. Jamison Stutzman placed third, in 17:13.8, and Chandler Hershberger was fourth, in 17:22.3. Other finishers were Lucas Bontrager (8th, 18:17.7), Nathan Wallington (9th, 18:27.2), Luke Albright (24th, 20:26.3) and Jordan Stock (30th, 22:08.4).
Abby Blint paced the Mt. Pleasant girls in their first meet of the season. She took eighth place, in 21:45.1. Cristina Carthey was the second Panther in the tpo 20, crossing in 22:43.6, for 19th.
Belle Meador was 31st, in 23:43.3. Elsie Lang took 33rd, in 24:10.5. Other Panther finishers were Audrey Lord (50th, 27:14.5), Jeneva Dykstra (52nd, 27:30.7) and Jenna Gilmore (56th, 32:42.4)
Four Panther boys finished in the top 40. Luke Ryon took 32nd, in 18:55.5. Ben Carthey was 35th, in 19:14.3. Logan Lee took third, in 19:22.1, and Nate McWilliams finished 39th, in 19:23.6.
Isaac Rynders finished 50th in the Panthers' opening meet, crossing the tape in 20:02.2. Gannon McNamee came in 54th, in 20:15.3, and Gabe Feldmann took 57th, in 20:35.3.
