Panthers hosts Bill Rex Invitational

PACKWOOD — Pekin girls wrestling played host on Monday with the Bill Rex Invitational.
The Panthers, along with Cardinal, Columbus, Fairfield, Sigourney and Highland all represented the Union area.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Albia, North Mahaska, Chariton, Lone Tree and Moravia were all present as well.
Out of the Union area teams, the host Panthers were the highest finishers, placing fourth with 106.5 total points.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont won the tournament with a score of 259.
Cardinal followed in fifth with 98 points. Columbus was sixth with 97 points. Fairfield took eighth with 83 points, Sigourney’s 75 points were good enough for ninth and Highland finished 13th with 27 points.
For Pekin, Lila Miller (135) and Hailey Pedrick (140) were both tournament champions.
Cardinal did not have a winner, but a trio placed third. Paislee Kern (120), Macy Grove (140) and Reagan Vaughn (155) all finished in the bronze position.
For Columbus, Jada Moats (170), Josie Nelson (140) and Maritza Tovar (105) all placed second.
Samantha Lyons was Fairfield’s lone winner at 170. Alyia Abbott (110) followed with a third-place finish.
Sigourney was led by Reanah Utterback (115) and Sadie Clarahan (125). The pair both finished first for the Savages.
Highland’s highest finisher on the day was Chloe Sexton (190), who finished first. Maiya Singbeil wrestled as well, but did not place.
