Panthers lock up sixth straight SEC meet championship

With 13 different conference champions among the 18 events at the Southeast Conference meet on Thursday evening, the Mt. Pleasant boys' track team won its sixth straight SEC championship, 139-84, over Washington.

Brandon Moorman's win in the 110 meter high hurdles marked the 13th year in a row that Mt. Pleasant has won the 110 highs at the SEC meet. Mt. Pleasant also set a new conference record in the shuttle hurdle when Courtt Andrew, Kendall Porth, Tommy Thorne, Moorman won the event in 60.39 seconds.

Also setting records Thursday evening were Scott Hahn in the 800 meter run as Hahn moved into ninth all-time for Mt. Pleasant, winning the 800 in 2:01.14 and Andrew in the 400 meter low hurdles. Andrew moved into eighth-place all-time after finishing second in the 400 lows in 56.08.

Mt. Pleasant runs again at the district track meet on Thursday, May 12, in Mt. Pleasant, starting at 5 p.m.
