In the Panthers? week-four 23-21 win over Centerville, kicker Liam Clancy?s converted field goals and extra points were key.
Mt. Pleasant is now 2-2 on the season and aims to up that to a winning record when it plays at home against Ft. Madison on Friday.
The Bloodhounds are 1-3 on the season.
?It?s two teams with similar records, and they also lost to Fairfield,? Head Coach Bob Jensen said.
After a week-one win against Louisa-Muscatine, Ft. Madison has dropped three straight games: to Central Lee-Donnellson, Keokuk, and then Fairfield.
Jensen notes that with two teams that are about evenly matched, home-field advantage ? and the home crowd ? could be important factors.
On the field, the Panthers will have to learn to adjust to a few new things when they face the Ft. Madison team.
?They have a talented left-handed quarterback, and they run different formations that we haven?t seen,? Jensen said. ?I think it will be a matter of getting lined up correctly.?
Jesse Ross is the quarterback for the Bloodhounds, and is 20-39 in completions on the season for 383 yards and one touchdown.
Kickoff for the week-five game will be at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex at 7:30 p.m.. The freshman team plays at 5 p.m.
