PELLA - The Mt. Pleasant track and field teams were in Pella over the weekend for a meet at Central College. The Panthers had two wins over the two day event, which hosted boys on Friday and girls on Saturday.
Mt. Pleasant took down both shot put titles. On Friday, Cooper Pullis won the boys' shot put throw and Jadan Brumbaugh followed that up with a win in the girls' shot put on Saturday.
Pullis launched the shot over 50 feet, hitting at 50-10.25 to best the boys field. Brumbaugh's throw was measured at 11.93 meters, or just over 39 feet.
Pullis was one of four Top-6 finishes for the Mt. Pleasant boys. Bryce Wilson had the second best finish on the boys' side, taking third place in the 60-meter hurdles.
Wilson qualified in the 60-meter hurdles after finishing in 9.17 seconds during his preliminary run. That had him at sixth going into the finals, but he jumped three spots in the final run, crossing the finish line in 8.93 seconds.
The Panthers boys had a couple of nice results in the jumping events. Reean Seberg took fifth in the long jump, hitting the sand at 19 feet three-and-a-half inches. Will Davidson finished sixth in the high jump with a leap of five feet six inches.
The Mt. Pleasant girls had a couple of finals qualifiers in the 60-meter hurdles. Karsyn Lamm took fourth, and Kenna Lamm finished in sixth.
Karsyn qualified fourth with a time of 9.87 seconds, and then bested that time with a 9.73 second run in the final dash. Kenna qualified seventh, at 10.61 seconds and jumped on spot in the finals with a sixth-place time of 10.14 seconds.
Washington and Fairfield were both originally scheduled to run at Central College, but neither of those two schools ended up making the trip.
The Mt. Pleasant, Washington and Fairfield boys' teams will all compete in the Union coverage area this week. Washington hosts its home meet at Case Field on Thursday.
