Panthers pick up two wins at West Branch
WEST BRANCH ? The Mt. Pleasant boys? and girls? basketball teams each picked up a win in their doubleheader at West Branch last night.
The girls defeated the Bears by a score of 65-48, and then the boys took the floor for a 73-46 win.
The Mt. Pleasant girls were up by only one at halftime, 25-24, but stretched their lead with a 23-point third quarter and sealed the win in the fourth quarter with another 17 ...

WEST BRANCH ? The Mt. Pleasant boys? and girls? basketball teams each picked up a win in their doubleheader at West Branch last night.
The girls defeated the Bears by a score of 65-48, and then the boys took the floor for a 73-46 win.
The Mt. Pleasant girls were up by only one at halftime, 25-24, but stretched their lead with a 23-point third quarter and sealed the win in the fourth quarter with another 17 points.
Taylor Shull led the Panthers with 18 poitnts in the contest, and Kelsi Phipps scored 16. Taryne Shull was right behind with 15 points. Katelyn Fry added eight.
In the boys? game, Mt. Pleasant had a 10-point lead, 24-14, by halftime and just kept gaining from there for the win.
Blake Vandenberg had 20 points and Jordan Ashton had 18. Nick Lyon also broke double-figure scoring with 10 points.
The Panther boys will host Mid-Prairie on Monday, starting with a freshmen game at 4:30 p.m., followed by JV and varsity games.
The Mt. Pleasant girls won?t take the court again until they play host Washington on Feb. 10. The freshmen girls will start at 4:45. The boys? team will play in Washignton that night.
