MEDIAPOLIS — Mt. Pleasant’s Ben Newton needed to pitch for just 5.2 innings to get a complete-game win over Mediapolis on Tuesday night.
Newton and the Panthers were at Mediapolis for a non-conference clash. Mt. Pleasant scored two runs in the first inning, one in the third and two more in the fourth to run away with the victory.
Newton gave up just three hits in almost six innings of work before inclement weather stopped the game just over an inning short.
The Mt. Pleasant offense collected three total hits. Newton had one of them, going 1-for-2 with an RBI. J.C. Sitar and Carson Andreasen each had one hit as well.
Zachary Newton and Payton Hagans each went hitless but each drove in a run for the Panthers.
The win moved Mt. Pleasant to 19-7 overall. Mt. Pleasant is in Davis County on Wednesday night, where they will try to look for win number 20.
