MEDIAPOLIS - One day after a disappointing night against Danville, the Mt. Pleasant basketball teams plastered Mediapolis in a nonconference road doubleheader. The Panther girls rolled Mepo 70-44, and the boys stifled the Bulldogs 37-22.
The Mt. Pleasant girls absolutely dominated the first half. The Panthers exploded in the first quarter for 26 points and led 26-13 after one quarter and 41-14 at halftime. Mediapolis could never recover from the early onslaught.
Andrea Lopreato went off for 22 points, 13 rebounds and eight steals to lead the Panthers. Kenna Lamm had a huge game as well, going for 18 points and eight steals. Tristian Shull scored 13 points and dished out seven assists.
Karsyn Lamm scored nine points in the win. Emma Huckabone scored six, and Ava Lowery had two.
The Panther boys led 12-6 after the first quarter, and then shut Mediapolis out for the entirety of the second quarter to take a 24-6 lead into halftime. Mediapolis won the second half, but it was too little too late.
Dewon Trent scored 10 points for the Panther boys. Brvin Wilson scored seven. Sam Jerrel and Owen Vansickel added six points apiece.
