Panthers prowl in Keokuk
Mt. Pleasant track and field sweeps Chiefs’ home meet

KEOKUK — The Mt. Pleasant Panthers simply dominated at the Keokuk co-ed track and field meet on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant won 21 events and took the team titles in both the boys’ and girls’ final standings.
The Panther girls scored the most points, putting up 211 points, which beat out second-place Clark County (Missouri) 140. The Panther boys scored 197, besting second-place Fort Madison 128.
Van Buren County placed fifth and seventh at the meet, which included nine schools. The Warriors scored 52 points for fifth on the boys’ side, and 53 points to finish seventh on the girls’ side.
Kenna Lamm was a triple-winner for the Mt. Pleasant girls. Lamm won the 100-meter dash in 12.71 seconds, the 200-meter dash in 27.04 seconds, and the 100-meter hurdles in 16.10 seconds.
The only other individual track winner for the Panther girls was Andi Scott. Scott took the 400-meter dash in 1:04.04.
The Panther girls won four relays. The 4X200 team of Mica Carter, Tristian Shull, Bailey Jalas and Josie Gilmore won in 1:58.49. The 4X400 squad of Carter, Elsie Lange, Scott and Lamm won in 4:25.16. The sprint medley quad of Coutney Raub, Shull, Lange and Scott won in 1:57.87, and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Jenna Gilmore, Allie Westercamp, Josie Gilmore and Abby Blint won in 1:12.73.
Mt. Pleasant won three field events on the girls’ side. Josie Gilmore lept 4-feet, 10 inches to win the high jump. Jadan Brumbaugh tossed the shot put 44 feet, 9.5 inches, and Alyssa Dascher threw the discus 104 feet, 9 inches.
The Panthers kept the party going in the boys’ events, and that included double-winner Will Davidson. Davidson won the 200-meter dash in 22.02 seconds, and beat out second-place Tyler Stoltz of Van Buren County with a 15.21 second finish in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Other individual winners for the Panthers on the track were Gabe Feldmann, who crossed the tape in the 800-meter run in 2:11.39, and Isaiah Albright, who won the 400-meter hurdles in 59.66 seconds.
The Panther boys had three relay wins. The 4X800 team of Jacob Richtman, Dylon Hagans, Isaac Rynders and Feldmann won in 8:53.97. The distance medley squad of Avin Truong, Payson Coleman, Mason Sloat and Albright won in 3:53.82, and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Bowen Davis, Truong, Morgan Van Nyhuis and J.C. Sitar won in 1:08.54.
Mt. Pleasant also had three wins in the field. Truong won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 5.5 inches. Isaac Jerrel took the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 5 inches, and Keegan Elliott won the discus throw with a toss of 122 feet, 10.5 inches.
