DANVILLE — Friday night may have been the biggest task so far for the Pekin football team, but the Panthers passed with flying colors.
Pekin went into Danville 2-0, having beaten its first two opponents 130- leading up to Game 3. The Panthers didn’t slow down a bit, blasting the Bears 54-10 on their own home field.
The Panther lead was just 6-3 after one quarter, as Danville picked off a long pass by Will Adam and brought it all the way to the red zone to set up a field goal. That was Adam’s only pick of the game, and the only ball he threw that didn’t land in the hands of a teammate.
The Panthers busted the game wide-open in the second quarter. Pekin scored four times to turn a three-point game into a 34-3 halftime blowout.
The Panthers continued to dominate in the second half, getting to a running clock for the third-straight game to begin the season.
Will Adam ran for 163 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Nolan Glick rushed for 75 yards, and Henry Adam rushed for 23 yards and two scores.
Glick led the receiving group with three catches for 82 yards. Robert Brown had two catches for 39 yards, and Alijah Brock caught one pass for 14 yards.
Henry Adam and Landon Crow finished the night with 7.5 tackles and 7 tackles respectively. Cal Miller recovered one fumble, and Robert Brown picked off a pass, which he took back 65 yards for a score.
Pekin is now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the district. The Panthers will host Columbus (1-2, 1-1) on Friday night.
