Panthers punish Chiefs

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant wrestling teams welcomed in Southeast Conference foe Keokuk on Monday for the first action of 2026. It was all Panthers in a boy-girl wrestling sweep.
The Panther boys moved to 2-0 in conference play by besting the Chiefs 51-21, and the MPCHS girls scooped up a team win as well, winning 31-21.
The Panther boys had seven pins in the victory. Aven Beauchamp (106), Levi Evans (120), Lane Bckler (126), Jefferson Avalos Ramirez (132), Ramzy Davis (157), Keegan Birdsell (165) and Ethan Peck (190) all finished their match on top, while Charlie Bohnenkamp (138) won by decision.
There were only three actual matches on the girls’ side, as most went to forfeit. Mt. Pleasant had one winner in those three matches, as Zenlynn Lee pinned her opponent in just 30 seconds.
