Mt. Pleasant hits the road to beat up on Knoxville in non-conference play

KNOXVILLE — It was a battle of Panthers in Knoxville on Wednesday night, and it was the Mt. Pleasant version that was on the prowl.
Mt. Pleasant busted out the bats, putting down Knoxville 10-4 to earn a non-conference victory.

Mt. Pleasant scored one in the first and two in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Knoxville responded with two in the fourth, but the Mt. Pleasant outscored the hometown Panthers 7-2 in the final three frames.
Leadoff hitter Jake Ensminger stood tall for Mt. Pleasant at the plate. Ensminger went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the offense. Trevor Wellington was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Lincoln Henriksen and Carson Coleman each had a pair of hits and an RBI. Cooper Keldgord went 1-for-2. Zerek Venghaus, Colton Hutson and Andrew Holtkamp all scored runs.
Mt. Pleasant moved to 8-16 with the win.
