MT. PLEASANT — It’s been sometime since Mt. Pleasant boys soccer has gotten the better of Washington. Six years to be exact.
The last time the Panthers defeated the Demons was in 2019.
On Monday, the Panthers ended that streak with a 4-0 shutout of the Demons.
It was a stellar defensive showing by the Panthers, who gave up just three shots on goal.
Washington did well in its own right defensively, but the Panthers broke through at the 26 minute mark.
Brandon Veloz scored one of his two goals for the Panthers after fending off a slew of Demon defenders off a deep pass from Dylan White, who dished out three assists in the win.
Less than 10 minutes later, Veloz struck again after an errant save bounced around inside the Demons’ box and found his foot.
At the first horn, Mt. Pleasant held the 2-0 advantage.
The Panthers continued that same pace into the second half and it culminated in two additional goals.
This time, Akbar Wilson and White got in on the goal scoring.
Xachary LeBlanc ended with three saves for the Panthers.
With the win Mt. Pleasant improves to 4-1 on the season. Washington drops to 1-4.
