TIFFIN — The Mt. Pleasant volleyball team gave it their all on Thursday night, but the Panthers couldn’t pull the ultimate upset over the top-ranked team in Class 4A.
Mt. Pleasant traveled to Tiffin to attempt to upend the Class 4A favorites two weeks before the state tournament, but the high-powered Clippers were way too much, beating Mt. Pleasant in three sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-13).
The loss knocked the Panthers out of the Class 4A Region 1 tournament in the semifinals on a night when the class was whittled down to just 16 teams left in contention for the title.
Alex Scott led the Panthers with seven kills in the game. She and Myah Starr were the only two players with a service ace.
Clear Creek-Amana moved on to play Cedar Rapids Xavier in Tuesday’s final, while Mt. Pleasant ended the 2025 campaign at 22-15. It was the most wins for Mt. Pleasant volleyball since the 2013 season.
The Panthers will lose a boatload of seniors to graduation this spring, including leading killers Scott and Addison Clark, fourth-leading killer Kynlee White, setter Abby Carthey and libero Meadow Carter.
