Panthers take 1st at Fairfield home invite
Mt. Pleasant girls’ golf gets out to hot start in conference opener

FAIRFIELD — The first southeast conference girls golf meet of the year showed the upcoming year is going to be a dogfight in southeast Iowa.
Fairfield opened up the 2024 campaign by hosting the first EC meet of the spring. It was Mt. Pleasant who came out on top, nipping Fort Madison by four strokes to win the meet.
The Top-4 teams in the final standings were separated by just 12 strokes. The Panthers finished with a total of 220 to grab the early SEC lead.
The Panthers were led by individual champion Kylie Walderbach, who shot a 47 to win the meet. Elaina Holtkamp was eight strokes behind her teammate, finishing at 55.
Sophia Walderbach and Ashlynn Beauchamp shot 59 each to round out the Mt. Pleasant scorers. Vivian Cornell finished at 66.
Washington wasn’t far from the top. The Demons took third place, scoring 226, just six strokes out of first place.
Washington’s Maci Williams shot 49, finishing just two back of first place individually. Natalie Prochaska finished five strokes back of Williams with a 54.
Reasgan Stouder shot a 57. Lauren Hinrichsen rounded out the Demon scorers with a 66. Presley Hora finished at 67, and Lucy Sands ended the day at 68.
Fairfield finished fifth place on the day with a final stroke total of 260. Scores for the Trojans were not available as of press time.
