Panthers take home 3rd in Ft. Madison

FT. MADISON - The Mt. Pleasant boys' soccer team played three tight games this weekend at a tournament in Fort Madison, taking two of them for a third-place finish.
The Panthers began their day with a 1-0 win over the hosting Bloodhounds. Ovidio Reyes-Cardona scored the only goal of the game, putting one in off an assist from Nathan Rauenbuehler.
Reyes-Cardona had 10 shots in the win, which led the team by a wide margin. Cade Warner and Rauenbuehler had two shots apiece, and Nolan Meyers had one.
Logan Lee was in net for game one. He recorded the shutout with eight saves.
The Panthers were held scoreless in their semifinal game against Davenport North. Mt. Pleasant finished the game with 10 shots, four of which were by Reyes-Cardona. Joe Holtkamp, Rauenbuehler and Warner finished with two each.
Lee was in net again for game two. He gave up two goals in the loss.
Mt. Pleasant faced Holy Trinity for third place. Mt. Pleasant won that game 3-0 with goals from Warner, Avery Scandridge and Reyes-Cardona.
Reyes Cardona's goal was the game-winner. He scored off an assist from Scandridge, the only assist of the game.
Reyes-Cardona had eight shots in the win. Warner finished with five. Ethan Oilar had three, and Dillon Malone finished with one.
Rauenbuehler picked up the win in net in game three. He saved six shots in the victory.
Danville-New London was also in the tournament. They fell 4-2 in the first round against Holy Trinity, getting goals from Robert Carillo and Tristan Miller, and four saves from Levi Svoboda, but rallied back in the next two contests.
D-NL creamed Keokuk 5-1. Miller had a hat-trick in the win, and both Dakota Dietsch and Cam Edle had goals. Svoboda saved three shots.
In their third game, D-NL beat Fort Madison 4-2. Miller had two goals in the win, and both Carrillo and Edle had one. Svoboda finished that game with three saves.
Mt. Pleasant will be at Columbus on Monday, April 1 for a boy-girl doubleheader. D-NL will next be in action on Tuesday, April 2, at Highland.
