Panthers topped at No. 5 Bobcats
Mt. Pleasant held to five points for less in three of four quarters against Benton

VAN HORNE — Mt. Pleasant girls basketball faced not only one its toughest opponents of the season on Monday. but one of the best girls basketball teams in the state in the Bobcats of Benton.
It was a tough out for the Panthers as the Bobcats walked away with a 71-20 victory.
Benton made it hard on the Panthers offensively. Through the opening half, the Bobcats held the Panthers to just nine points.
Meanwhile, Benton went on to score 44 points themselves.
Mt. Pleasant kicked it up a notch in the third scoring a team high 11 points, but Benton still just held an edge with 12.
Heading into the final period, Benton led 56-20. Benton went on to outscore Mt. Pleasant 15-0 in the final quarter to seal it.
Abby Carthey led the Panthers with seven points. Juliana Burns added four and Myah Starr notched three.
With the loss, Mt. Pleasant moves to 1-6 on the season.
The Panthers will look to get back into the win column on Friday against Washington on the road.
