Panthers topple Trojans, remain unbeaten
Mt. Pleasant girls soccer team is now 6-0

FAIRFIELD — The Mt. Pleasant girls soccer team finished off the regular season sweep of Fairfield Thursday when the Panthers defeated the Trojans 5-1 at Fairfield High School.
The Panther girls poured in four goals in the first half. Fairfield’s Clare Else scored the only Trojan goal of the game, making it 4-1 at the break.
The Panthers scored one more goal in the second half to pull away with a four-goal win.
Mt. Pleasant’s Elly Manning had two goals and two assists in the win. Andrea Lopreato added two goals of her own. Abby West had a goal and an assist, and Anna Ostby finished the night with one assist.
Fairfield goalkeeper Trisha Westphal made 12 saves in the loss. Mt. Pleasant’s Emma Pieper needed to make just one in the win.
Mt. Pleasant is now 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the Southeast Conference. Fairfield is 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the SEC.
