MT. PLEASANT — Iris Bowling Center in Mt. Pleasant was the site of a Highway 34 rivalry on Thursday, as the Fairfield bowling teams traveled west to take on the rival Panthers.
Both schools picked up victories. The Mt. Pleasant girls knocked off Fairfield 2,211-2,070, and the Trojan boys bested the Panthers 2,934-2,494.
Mt. Pleasant’s win on the girls’ side came despite not having the top scorer. Fairfield sophomore Emma Cass led the way, rolling a 374.
Mt. Pleasant had the next three. Natalie Brush (330), Shyann Smith (322) and Madelynn Millard (301) were second, third and fourth respectively.
Savannah Smith bowled a 247 for the Panthers. Addison Butcher rolled a 245, and Annette Reynolds finished at 227.
Fairfield’s second-best bowler on the girls’ side was Emma Forrest, who rolled a 297. Savannah Garretson bowled a 279. Austumn McBride rolled a 228. Brooklyn Gridley and Braezen Stutzman each finished at 211.
Fairfield’s Blake Ballew had a monster day on the boys’ side, bowling a 392. Dayson Workman finished at 387, and Corbin Starr bowled a 379 for the Top-3 individuals of the day.
Henry Swan bowled a 334 for the Trojans. Eli Aplara finished at 318, and Aaron Carlson bowled a 257.
For Mt. Pleasant, Xachary LeBlanc led the way with a 369. Joseph Rheinschmidt bowled a 241. Mason Frueh finished at 339. Ethan Payne bowled a 335. Rhys Nelson finished at 279, and Zayden Lawrence bowled a 197.
