BLOOMFIELD -The Mt. Pleasant baseball team staged a seventh-inning comeback in their nonconference road game at Davis County on Wednesday night, but the Mustangs got the last laugh on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the last inning and upended the Panthers 4-3.
After a two-run top of the seventh turned a one-run deficit into a 3-2 lead, Mt. Pleasant needed just three outs to steal a win on the road, but Davis County buckled down and answered with two runs, including an RBI single in their final at-bat, to beat the Panthers by one.
Corbin Broeker and Clayton Lowery each had a single and an RBI in the loss. Brennan Bender collected a single at the plate, and Jack Johnson finished the night with one RBI.
Johnson started the game on the mound and pitched six innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits and one walk, while striking out four batters. Rylan Seberg was tagged with the loss, giving up two earned runs on three hits in the final inning.
The loss in Bloomfield snapped a three-game winning streak for the Panther boys. It was also the first nonconference game of the shortened season.
