Panthers, Warriors, Comets compete at Pekin Tournament
Van Buren picks up two wins, Pekin gets one, Cardinal goes winless

PACKWOOD — Pekin, Van Buren County and Cardinal all competed in the Pekin Tournament on Monday night.
Moravia also took part in the four team quad tournament.
Van Buren County picked up three wins in the tournament.
The Warriors downed hosts Pekin in two straight sets 21-15 and 21-15.
Van Buren then defeated Moravia in three sets. The Warriors lost the first set 21-16, but bounced back to win two straight 21-17 and 15-11.
In their final match of the night, the Warriors bounced back with two straight set wins, 21-14 and 15-12, after a dominating loss in set one 21-11.
Hosts Pekin, grabbed a win right out the gate against Cardinal. The Panthers defeated Cardinal 2-0, winning 21-16 and 22-20.
Pekin’s first loss came from the hands of Van Buren County and the second Moravia.
After the 2-0 loss to the Warriors, the Panthers were bested by Moravia 2-0. The Mohawks won the pair of sets 21-7 and 21-15.
Cardinal lost three total on the night, with a 2-0 and 2-1 loss to Cardinal and Van Buren County.
The third loss came against Moravia. The Comets put up a good fight, bouncing back after a 21-16 set one loss to win the second 22-20. In the third and final set, the Mohawks edged the Comets 18-16.
