Panthers win home triangular

The Mt. Pleasant boys' golf team had a big win on Monday, taking down two conference opponents in their home opener. The Panthers won their first home meet with a final score of 156, beating Washington (180) by 24 strokes and cruising past Keokuk (225) by 69 strokes.
The Panthers were led by co-medalists Trace White and Brevin Wilson. The two tied for first by shooting 38 apiece to lead the team to the win.
Jake Moffett and Bailey Shelledy were each in a three-way tie with Washington's Brock Sobaski for third place. Both players finished at 40 for the day to score for Mt. Pleasant.
Rhett Zeglen returned from illness for his first meet, and ended the tournament at 45. Reece Kempker finished the day with a stroke count of 60 to finish sixth on the team.
This was the second time Mt. Pleasant beat Washington and Keokuk this year. The Panthers also took out both Southeast Conference teams in their last meet in Washington.
The Panther boys will be in Burlington today for a tournament at Flint Hills Golf Course. They will be playing against Winfield-Mt. Union, Central Lee, Danville, Ft. Madison, Notre Dame and Van Buren.
