FT. MADISON - Two Henry County teams were in the Holy Trinity Catholic volleyball tournament on Monday night. Mt. Pleasant and Winfield-Mt. Union were both in the same pool, along with the fourth-raniked (Class 1A) HTC Crusaders and Danville.
The Wolves continued to have the Panthers' number when the two teams met in pool play. W-MU won 21-11 and 21-19. Jenna Buffington's nine kills led the way. Kyndal Townsley had 10 digs, and Kayla Edwards had 11 assists, nine digs and three aces. W-MU was unable to win a set against HTC or Danville. The Wolves fell 21-10 in both sets against HTC. They dropped their match against Danville 21-16 and 21-14 despite seven kills from Jami Wilkerson.
Mt. Pleasant was also swept by HTC, but put up a good fight against Danville. The Bears knocked off the Panthers in a deciding third set.
The Panthers will be back in action tonight (Tuesday) when they take on a Ft. Madison squad that ranks No. 13 in 4A. W-MU will be off until SEISC tournament pool play on Thursday, Sept. 20. The Wolves will play in Donnellson.
