BLOOMFIELD — A quartet of area teams were in Davis County for the Mustang’s co-ed invitational on Tuesday night. Fairfield, Pekin, Cardinal and Van Buren County all ran on the boys’ side, and Cardinal competed on the girls side.

Pekin had the best day of anyone. The Panther girls took second, with 163 points, and the boys scooped up a silver as well, scoring 90.

Pekin won nine events on the girls side, including a pair of double wins. Lauren Dersheid swept the long distance races, winning the 3000-meter run and the 1500-meter run. Kerrigan Pope swept the throwing events, taking the shot put and discus.

The Panther girls won two relays. The 4x400 team of Sarah Eubanks, Audrey Fariss, Sabrina Reneker and Sophie Wittrock won, as did the sprint medley team of Mackenzie Dahlstrom, Claire Roth, Wittrock and Eubanks. Eubanks also took the 400-meter dash. Reneker won the 400-meter hurdles, and Lily Fariss won the 800-meter run.

The Pekin boys won three events. Zach Wise won the 800, Brady Millikin took the 1600 and the 4x800 team of Wise, Deklan Hampton, Sven Dahlstrom and Jaedon Wolver took first as well.

The Fairfield boys won four events, three of which involved Kyle Godwin. He swept the throwing events, winning the shot put and discus, and he anchored the throwers relay team to a win. Others in the throwers relay included Nathan Trower, Chris Kyle and Nick Kaska.

The Trojan boys had one more winning relay. The 4x100 team of Conner Lyons, Landen Schafer, JJ Lane and Aiden Lyons gave the Trojans another victory.

Cardinal’s Griffin Greiner had a monster day, winning all four of his events. He won the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter dash and the long jump. The boys shuttle hurdle squad of Ian Liles, Karson Kirkpatrick, Gavin Grove and Konnor Sanders also won.

The Cardinal girls won just one event. The throwers relay team of Allisyn Cloke, Ajaah Cox, Kaylyn Chapin and Skyllar Welch took the top spot.
