Pekin falls to Danville in postseason volleyball

DANVILLE — The Class 2A volleyball postseason ended for Pekin Wednesday night against the Danville Bears, 3-1.
After the first two sets went to Danville 25-20, 25-18, the Panthers mounted a charge to take the third set 25-19, but fizzled out in Set 4, 25-11.
Kyli Fitzsimmons rose up to put down nine kills and Pekin teammates Claire Roth and Emma Phillips combined to hit 11. Quinn Baker set 10 assists and Taylor Gambell seven.
Alex Parsons led the Pekin defense with 21 digs and Roth added 18. Kayse Miller added 11 digs. Fitzsimmons and Phillips each rose up for two blocks apiece.
Pekin’s season ends with a 6-16 record while Danville advances with a 9-16 mark.
