Pekin gains another spot

Pekin advanced another step up the Class 2A rankings ladder Monday when the Associated Press released its list of the top 10 teams in each of the four classes of Iowa high school basketball.
Pekin was the sole represenative from the area although other teams received votes, namely Keota and New London in Class 1A. Another Southeast Iowa Super Conference team to get votes beside the Panthers and Tigers was Notre Dame.
The River Valley Conference saw third-ranked Monticello get two votes for No. 1 in 3A and West Branch was sixth in 2A.
South Iowa Cedar League's Montezuma was ranked eighth in 1A.
Pekin's Brayden Sobaski is second in 2A in blocks while Brock Long is 11th in steals and teammate Brady Millikin is tied for fifth in assists. Chandler Stull is 20th in 3-point percentage.
