PACKWOOD — Winfield-Mount Union had beaten Pekin by double digits earlier this winter, but the Panther girls basketball team didn’t seem to be faced on Tuesday night.
Pekin hit back at the Wolves with a dominant 67-36 win in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division showdown, a victory that comes off the back of a five-point defeat of Highland just three days earlier.
Pekin’s inside game was unstoppable all night long. Anna Hadley had a huge night inside, scoring 25 points to lead the way.
Reagan Eubanks had a big night from outside, hitting five three-pointers to finish the game with 18 points. Maddy Petrehn added 12. Paislee Coleman scored six. Abby Guise had five, and Carlie Gambell finished the night with one.
WMU was led by a 10-point performance by Kynlee Buffington. Madison Kellogg scored seven. Kellee Milks had six. Suttyn Schlee scored five. Josie Nelson scored four. Jayda Nichols added three, and Lilly Heckethorn finished with two.
The win moved Pekin to 5-4 overall, with all games being played in the SEISC North. WMU is now 2-10 overall and 1-7 in league play.
