Pekin girls stay perfect, win another track meet
The Pekin girls? track team won another meet Tuesday, meaning the Panthers are now a perfect 6-for-6 in outdoor meets this season.
This time around, it was the Lewis L. Lundy Invitational in Montezuma. Pekin finished with 157 points, which was just 10 ahead of second place finisher PCM. South Tama, North Mahaska, Iowa Valley-Marengo and Colfax-Mingo rounded out the field in Class A.

The Pekin girls? track team won another meet Tuesday, meaning the Panthers are now a perfect 6-for-6 in outdoor meets this season.
This time around, it was the Lewis L. Lundy Invitational in Montezuma. Pekin finished with 157 points, which was just 10 ahead of second place finisher PCM. South Tama, North Mahaska, Iowa Valley-Marengo and Colfax-Mingo rounded out the field in Class A.
?We knew going into Montezuma that it would be a tough meet,? Pekin coach Josh Roudabush said. ?I thought our girls ran well and showed a lot of heart. It was great experience running against tough competition.?
The 4x100 relay team, comprised of Jessica Horras, Mallory Reed, Nikole Arendt and Kaylee Linder, earned Pekin?s only relay race win with the time of 53.68. The Panthers earned second place finishes in three relay races and finished third in the 800-meter sprint medley.
As usual, the Panthers were very successful individually. Gwynne Wright earned three more first place finishes on the year, running in the 800-meter run, the 3000-meter run and the 1500-meter run.
Reed won the 100-meter hurdles with the time of 16.22. Reed also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash.
Linder nabbed a second place finish in the 100-meter dash with the time of 13.07. She also earned third in the 200-meter dash.
Taylor Lock earned second in the 3000-meter run and sixth in the 800-meter run.
Samantha Wright finished third in the 400-meter hurdles. Whitney Horras and Shea Dahlstrom both got fifth place finishes.
Shelbie Williams and Kaysha Dodson both finished second in field events.
