Pekin joins the ranks

The Pekin Panthers are on a roll, undefeated and now officially ranked, according to the post-Week 5 Cedar Rapids Gazette high school football poll.

Pekin had already been flirting with the Top-10 rankings leading up to Week 5, but the Panthers are finally into the ranks. After their fifth-straight win to start the year, Pekin is now No. 9 in the Class A poll.

Also ranked once again is Mid-Prairie, which stuck at No. 5, despite the No. 4 team falling last week. Undefeated Okoboji jumped the Golden Hawks for the fourth spot in Class 2A.

The top-ranked teams remain the same as last week’s list.
