Pekin loses to Mediapolis in volleyball

PACKWOOD — Pekin played well in the first two sets, against Mediapolis Tuesday in a Super Conference North Division volleyball match. The Panthers lost 25-19, 25-21, 25-9.
“We were more aggressive at the net and were passing the ball well,” Panthers head coach Rusty Crabtree said. “We served well the first two sets.”
Claire Roth connected on six digs and four aces. Pekin teammate Emma Phillips put down five kills and three aces.
“We are just at that point where we are close to getting over the hump,” Crabtree said. “With some more hard work and lots of heart, we will get there.”
Alex Parsons led Pekin in digs with nine. Quinn Baker and Taylor Gambell combined for 13 assists while Kayse Miller and Kyli Fitzsimmons had a combined six kills and five aces. Sadie Sieren had five digs.
Pekin is 6-11 overall, 1-6 North and Mediapolis is 11-14 (6-0).
