Pekin, Mid-Prairie girls 2nd in cross-country rankings

Last week’s Iowa high school cross-country rankings were released by iowarunjumpthrow.com, and the lists have plenty of Union area teams and names.
Two area girls teams currently sit in the Top-2 in their respective rankings. The Pekin girls are now at No. 2 in the Class 1A rankings, sitting behind Logan-Magnolia. Mid-Prairie is No. 2 in Class 2A, behind River Valley Conference rival Monticello.
The Mid-Prairie boys are ranked No. 8 in Class 2A. Danville-New London sits one spot back of the Golden Hawks, at No. 10.
Washington is in both Class 3A rankings. The Demon boys are ranked No. 13, and the girls sit at No. 13.
Individually, Mid-Prairie’s Danielle Hostetler, the defending Class 2A girls champion, is ranked No. 1. Other area runners in the Top-10 include Danville-New London’s A.J. Bonnesen and Mid-Prairie’s Emmett Swartzentruber, which sit at No. 9 and No. 10 respectively in the Class 2A boys ranks.
