Pekin pounces into 2023

The girls’ cross-country team paced Pekin fall sports in 2022, as the Panther girls rolled to victory in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference championship meet.
Pekin put five runners into the Top-10 at he SEISC meet, including four returners. Chloe Glosser won the SEISC title as a freshman. Now-junior Lauren Steigleder finished third. Now-senior Audrey Fariss was seventh, and now-Junior Brooke Sylvester finished 10th.
Pekin parlayed that momentum into a state qualification, finishing ninth.
The Pekin boys’ cross-country team finished ninth in the SEISC. Junior Brady McWhirter took fifth in his sophomore campaign.
The Pekin football team was 3-5 last season. The Panthers return second-leading rusher Will Adam (361 yards, 3 TDs). Adam also had 173 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Jaedon Wolver returns after taking five catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns.
The Pekin volleyball team went 3-22 on the year. Senior defender Alex Parsons leads the rush into 2023.
