Pekin sends 14 runners to Fort Dodge for state meet

The Pekin cross-country team put forth another dominating performance Thursday at Wildwood Park in Ottumwa.

All seven boys varisty runners and seven girls varsity runners will be running in the state meet on Nov. 2. The girls came into the race as heavy favorites.

?They were favored to win so the pressure was on to live up to their ranking,? Pekin coach Davis Eidahl said. ?They started fast and never looked back.?

The Pekin boys finished third overall.

?They started fast and stayed in a group,? Eidahl said. ?With Austin?s fast start, the rest of the team kept up and all finished within 25 seconds of each other.?

Van Buren had runners qualify for state as well. Here are the results for Pekin, Van Buren, Cardinal and Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment:
