Pekin two wins from state berth

The Pekin varsity baseball team advanced to the Class 1A district 8 final versus Iowa Mennonite on Saturday after defeating Notre Dame 10-4 on Tuesday night at Burlington.
The Panthers are now 15-8 overall and with a victory on Saturday, would move on to the substate-4 final to face the winner of Calamus-Wheatland and Lone Tree for a trip to the state tournament.
The Class 1A-4 final will be on July 23 at Solon with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
