WINFIELD ? The Pekin volleyball team went the distance in a pair of matches at Winfield-Mount Union?s triangular Thursday.
The Panthers played to three sets in both matches, kicking the evening off with a 25-14, 22-25, 17-15 win over host 15th-ranked (Class 1A) Winfield-Mount Union before falling 19-25, 26-24, 4-15 to West Burlington.

The Panthers played to three sets in both matches, kicking the evening off with a 25-14, 22-25, 17-15 win over host 15th-ranked (Class 1A) Winfield-Mount Union before falling 19-25, 26-24, 4-15 to West Burlington.
Senior Maranda Baker led the Panthers offensively with nine kills, and Cheyann Lankford and Madelyn Baker put down eight apiece. Leslie Stone tallied 27 assists and 22 digs, and Emily Adam came up with 18 digs. Jacinta Cooley tallied a team-high three blocks on the night.
Next up for Pekin will be a Saturday scrimmage at Tri-County.
