PELLA — It’s been a tough start to the season for the Fairfield girls basketball team.
The struggles continued on Tuesday as the Trojans took the trek up to Pella to face off with the Dutch.
In what was a 12-0 game win streak coming into the matchup became 13 as the Trojans were toppled by the Dutch 79-27.
Fairfield had a seemingly rough go on both sides of the ball as they were held to single digits in each of the four quarters on the night and Pella put the ball in the basket at will.
After one quarter, the Trojans found themselves down 18-8. Pella put together its most efficient quarter of basketball in the second, scoring a whopping 31 points to Fairfield’s four.
At the break Fairfield trailed 49-12.
The narrative continued into the second half as Pella would outscore Fairfield 30-15.
With the loss, the Trojans drop to 0-6 on the season. They will look to add a win to the record book on Friday as they will travel to face Burlington (2-2).
